Specialized Treatment for Non-Healing Foot & Ankle Wounds
Not every wound heals on its own, and chronic or complicated wounds need more than time to close properly. At Valley Podiatry and Wound Care Center, our advanced wound care program serves patients in Mission, Rio Grande City, Weslaco, and throughout the Rio Grande Valley, addressing infected, slow-healing, or surgically complex wounds of the foot and ankle, using techniques designed to remove damaged tissue, control infection, and create the right conditions for healing.
Dr. Samuel Enyew and his team treat wounds resulting from trauma, post-surgical complications, vascular disease, and underlying conditions like diabetes, with treatment plans tailored to the cause and severity of each wound.

What to Expect During Your Wound Care Evaluation
Your visit starts with a review of your wound history, including when it appeared, how it's changed, and any related medical conditions affecting healing. Dr. Enyew then examines the wound for depth, infection, and tissue involvement, and may order imaging such as a digital X-ray when bone involvement is suspected. Your circulation, sensation, and overall foot health may also be assessed to identify factors that could affect healing and help reduce the risk of future complications.
This evaluation determines which advanced wound care technique, or combination of techniques, is right for your specific wound.

When to Seek Advanced Wound Care
Not every wound requires advanced treatment, but certain warning signs mean it's time to be seen.
- A wound hasn't improved in two to four weeks
- Increasing redness, swelling, warmth, or drainage
- Fever or chills accompanying a wound
- Visible bone or deep tissue at the wound site
- A wound that keeps reopening after closing
If you're noticing any of these signs, don't wait for the wound to worsen before seeking treatment.
